The real solution is to install a defragger that WORKS - say, Norton. :-> Windows' internal defragger doesn't work, plain and simple. If you can run a windows defrag, and then run a Norton defrag, or a McAfee defrag, or a defrag from ANY aftermarket utility sweep, and it STILL FINDS FRAGMENTED FILES, the initial defrag didn't work properly.

Also, not that this probably affects your dad, but for things that write to the disk a lot, defragging does make a measurable difference. The server software we use here at work to supply stock data to hundreds of thousands of users, frex. :->
