Goodwin/Long - Yes, it's not a bad way to do it, but it wasn't portrayed that way. All the while the story is saying mixed signals are bullshit, but it turns out that in Long's case they are, in fact, true. Or else why harp on "the exception"?
Aniston/Affleck - Sure, it's okay for that to happen too, but the way it turned out was that Aniston was actually becoming a stronger character for recognizing that in her case marriage was just a flourish, but that instantly gets subverted by the obligatory happy ending. If they showed how it happened some time later, that she brought him around to it, it might have taken the edge off, but that's not what happened.
Cooper/Connelly/Johansson - Yes, I noted that, but she still winds up as looking crazy, especially her reaction to discovering the cigarettes. There's nothing to give us a clue that it's her concern about his possible lying about other stuff that's giving her pause. And yes, I would accept Johansson's trip as taking control of her life, if that was the way the actress portrayed it, but her final interview played as uncertain and dazed, not particularly enthused about the trip.

But of course, mileage varies.
