This is worrying...

I ordered some stuff from Amazon and another company, and hadn't received it, so I went to the USPS tracking site to check. Both packages had the notation that they were "undeliverable as addressed," which is a matter of some concern since I haven't to my knowledge changed my address. One might be a mistake on the part of the shipper, but two? I also note that I haven't received any mail since the day after I got back.

I just called USPS to try and figure out what's going on.

No idea what things are like in the US, but "undeliverable as addressed" here can mean quite a few things:

* The person doing the delivery couldn't read (or count)
* You don't answer the door the instant they (fail to) ring the bell
* You were out and they couldn't be bothered to try again
* It's more than three steps from the van to your door

Usually it's courier firms rather than the Mail that fall short, but just before Xmas I had three seperate DVDs go missing in the post. Good luck tracking your missing packages down.

Sounds about right.

Most of the postal workers are great. But maybe once every year or year and a half, when we've had a sub on the route, I get a panicked phone call from a friend or relative saying "I didn't know you had moved!"

A few months ago I went on vacation and since I knew a package was coming for me I used the USPS web site to hold my mail for the week I would be away. Well, when I got back I was worried to see that my mailbox was full of mail - including the package, which luckily fit. Then I noticed that I was getting no new mail. I had printed out the confirmation of the hold and went to the post office. I'm very glad I had the print out with me. The woman acted pretty aloof but agreed to go back and check. She came back out all nice with a handful of mail. Yes, they had held my mail starting a week late.

I wonder if something similar happened to you?
Hope it works out okay :)!

I didn't have a hold placed, but they might have done it automatically. That's why I called USPS to check. They say they'll investigate and get back to me.

Huh. I have trouble with my post office when I have mail held, but usually they can find me. (UPS, on the other hand, almost never finds me. I've tried to convince Amazon to send all my stuff by USPS, not UPS, but it didn't work.)

Good luck getting it all worked out!
