Sending fan mail

I sent this via the Comedy Central comment page:

Dear Jon,

You're probably receiving a ton of these mails right now, so I won't
belabor the "you are a god" bits, because we both know that's a severe
exaggeration. Demi-god, maybe. In the right sort of light. And if I
squint a bit.

But anyway, thank you so much for saying what had to be said. I missed
watching it live because I've long given up watching Crossfire for
precisely the reasons you stated, but I managed to catch the AVI that's
been bouncing around the net since then.

You may not host a news show, Jon, but you're right - it says a lot
when the "legitimate" media look to your show for standards of
integrity. Historically, comedy has kept us honest by reminding us
how absurdly human we are.

Keep us honest the best you can, Jon. No pressure.

Yours,

I really do think that the sort of absurdist approaches that Stewart takes are the best ways of reaching "new/undecided" people.

I've always been genuinely impressed when Stewart goes out of character and informs media people that they're not doing good for society. He went off (on CNN, also, I think) about how bad the media was half a year to a year ago and it was an equally entertaining (and saddening) conversation.

That Comedy Central link isn't working for me. It seems to want to prepend the URL with a livejournal user page URL (either yours or main, depending whether I go from my friends page, or from your "read coments" page. Weird!

That's what happens when you leave out the http:// in the URL. Fixed now.

totally

the consensus from my viewing group was "We have to give this man a blowjob."

i love that he made a direct comment about tucker carlson's bow tie, and that tucker seemed to take jon's accusations of "moral inferiority" quite personally.

but yes, ditto your third paragraph. your comment spoke for many!
