All but the grading

Thesis proposal defense went well. It wasn't really a defend kind of thing - I just talked about where I was going, what problems I anticipated or had encountered, and my committee suggested ways to take the argument, things to look at or think about and I nodded and took notes. It was a nice, friendly atmosphere, about 45 minutes of chit-chat, basically. In the end, Dr Hoffer wrote "passed" across a hard copy of the proposal and I handed it in to Dr Winship, the History Department's Graduate Coordinator.

So, stuff to mull over during the break, but before that... 43 papers to grade by Friday.

Good for you! I'm glad you got that hurdle out of the way.

And I sympathize with the papers. I graded 55 9-page exams (all writing, naturally, as it would be too easy if they were short answer or true/false or multiple choice) in the last day and a half...blurgle. And now I have extra credit to grade and 16 more exams to pick up on Friday...but I'm grading *those* on the airplane to Vegas. *grin*
