Marvelous montages

From the latest episode of Doctor Who Confidential, a mashup of Doctor Who clips set to the music of Fall Out Boy's "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs".

I'm a sucker for these things (remember the 40th Anniversary montage set to the Orbital Doctor Who theme remix?) because they showcase the long legacy of a show I love so much I want to hug it to sleep.

Yeah, I'm that sappy. What of it?

Ooh, thank you. That made me fall in love with the Doctor all over again (yet again.) Squee.

I really enjoyed the episode too overall. It was the first time since the first season that Confidential has really acknowledged Who's history. Lately the show has simply become a preening ground for the writers and producers and it's getting sickening.

You can tell Tennant is a true fanboy with his direction.

Sadly, he points out that they will get back to business next week which means more preening.

Sigh.

Doctor Who Confidential has always been sort of self-congratulatory because of its focus on the current show. Part of the problem I suspect is that if they do more shows like this, what will eventually be included on the DVD will be severely stripped down (more than they are already) because they can't clear the copyright for these old clips.

And that's the sad part that those who purchase the sets will be stuck with the watered down versions that are simply pats on the back.
