Peering into the future

So, Comic-Con next year, for which I have pre-reg'd, is from July 23-27.

Worldcon next year, in Denver, is from August 6-10.

One week separates them.

Hm.

Possible to do both, but... what shall I do in the week or so in between? And is anyone (aside from the obvious Denverites like Kathleen Sloan) planning on being there?

Ummm...maybe rest for a day or 2 in between 2 huge cons?
:)

Do you drive?

You could rent a car and make the drive over the week time frame. There are many places to stop and visit between San Diego and Denver.

Sadly, I don't drive... but I could Amtrak it, I suppose. Stop in Las Vegas on the way, maybe a couple of National Parks...

...oh and we'll be at the Denver Worldcon.

Not in Denver, no. I am in L.A., which is arguably on the way, depending on how you're going.

I may also be at Comic-Con next year. This year money issues, car troubles, and finally health kind of prevented it.

Denver's quite likely at the moment. At least, I have a membership.

Should be doing both...although it's more like 9 days between rather than a week (which is a bit frightening since some other folk I know were talking about a Vegas thing either the weekend before or the weekend after SD).

Sounds like fun. SD one weekend, LV the next, and Worldcon the next. Keep me posted if this is happening.

Kathy and I are planning on being there, and being in Denver for a while (n weeks) beforehand.

Kathleen Sloan doesn't happen to have a husband named John who's sort of a motorcycle geek, does she?

I'm not sure. She's a doctor, if it helps any.

[identity profile] ysabel.livejournal.com 2007-08-15 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Certainly if I recall correctly the Sloans I know are both doctors, in at least the 'has a doctorate' sense. John is not a medical doctor, but I don't know about Kathleen.

[livejournal.com profile] akawil and I will probably make it Worldcon. We haven't gone in a while. [livejournal.com profile] batyatoon and [livejournal.com profile] sdelmonte were also making noises about going.

I need a FIAWOL icon.

*hugs*

Lara and I are probably going to Worldcon, though we haven't actually taken concrete steps in that direction.

Unless the routes have changed, Amtrak up the coast to Oakland and across the mountains to Denver would be a really pretty trip -- it's a long afternoon up the coast and then a full day to Denver, IIRC. It might be a bit pricey to get a sleeping car berth, but it's a wonderful experience.

Unfortunately, [profile] mrlogic has already written "One Filker's Week."

You could, of course, come stay with us.

You know I'd love to, but flying from one coast to the other and then back past the Mississippi seems so inefficient...

Until Tuesday this week, I would have answered "I have no clue whether or not I'll be at WorldCon next year. I don't even know what I'm doing next month."

However, given current circumstances (have new job teaching, if all goes well I'll have next summer off), it now seems fairly likely that I'll be at WorldCon in Denver. Not quite likely enough that I'm going ahead and buying a membership, but I may do so soon.
