10 Lines #8

An old meme, resurrected for today.

Ten first lines from my iTunes playlist right now. Guess the songs. Bonus points for guessing the artist and album, or guessing the version that I have (if it's been covered), where applicable. Some are pretty easy, some harder. Play fair now, no Googling.

1) "Coming in from London from over the globe..."

2) "To lead a better life, I need my love to be here."

3) "He always runs while others walk."

4) "I was just wondering — hypothetically..."

5) "Huh? Get a job?"

6) "Are we rolling? I don't mind if you go..."

7) "Philosophy gives itself freely to all of our minds."

8) "There was a farm on yonder hill, up where the wind it blows-o."

9) "Four have shared this room — we were caught up in the crack."

10) "I've got a little black book with my poems in."

Well, at least I got one of them

2) Here, There and Everywhere - The Beatles

#3: "Thunderball" by Tom Jones (from the James Bond film)
#4: "What If Your Girlfriend Was Gone?" by Carla Ulbrich.

As for the rest, ya got me stumped.

Probably too late on all of these, but:

2. Here, There, and Everywhere by the Beatles
4. What if Your Girlfriend Was Gone? by Carla Ulbrich
10. Nobody's Home by Pink Floyd

Extra notes:

#2 is from Revolver (possibly the best Beatles album ever)
#4 is from Her Fabulous Debut
#10 is from The Wall, of course. (And I heard a live version last night, and am now earwormed, dammit.)

And it's "Nobody Home". Duh

Close, but no-- it's "Deadbeat Club".

I don't know any of these. Despite the fact that I have theoretically heard at least two of the ones people have already guessed. This is not good.

2 - Here, There, and Everywhere - The Beatles
4 - What if Your Girlfriend Were Gone? - Carla Ulbrich

3 sounds familiar but I can't place it.

Without looking at anyone else's answers first....

10) Pink Floyd, "Nobody's Home" (from The Wall)

Well, I had been pretty sure 1) was London Calling by the Clash, but given that no one's yet gotten it, I'm less sure.

No, I think it's Coming Into Los Angeles by Arlo Guthrie.

In the recording I have, the first line of "Coming Into Los Angeles" is "Coming in from London from over the pole..."

My fuckup. I misheard the last word on that line.

Dangnabbit. The only two I knew, were already guessed-out. Try mine.

#1 sounds a touch like "Back in the USSR" although that's not the lyrics I remember. Not a clue on the others. Now to read the other comments.

Doh! Of course. That explains why it was such a non-beatles voice I was hearing in my head saying things about "Mr. Customs man".
