10 Lines #16

Past due for another 10 Lines!

Ten first lines from my iTunes playlist right now. Guess the songs. Bonus points for guessing the artist and album. Play fair now, no Googling.

1. In the shining sun, my images they run.

2. Glitterballs and disco halls and all that you can bare.

3. Packed and all eyes turned in, no one to see on the quay, no one waving for me.

4. We've already said, "Goodbye."

5. There's nothing we can say or do, the damage is in front of you.

6. You said something will change.

7. I hurt myself today to see if I still feel.

8. It's not open to discussion anymore.

9. You people can watch while I'm scrubbing these floors.

10. Before the time of the morning Sandman, I can find my way around.

9 is Pirate Jenny by Kurt Weil.

Is 3 The Band Played Waltzing Matilda?

No on #3; the line about being glad nobody is waiting is toward the end of the song. The line here is a snare and delusion

4: Go Now.

4. "Go Now", The Moody Blues (though a well-known cover is on Wings Over America, with Denny Lane, the original singer playing in Sir Paul's band)

8. "Baby Plays Around", Elvis Costello

"Go Now" was a cover the first time Denny & the Moodies did it--Bessie Banks recorded it earlier in 1964, and that version showed up in a movie recently.

I didn't know that. Thanks!

OOOOH! I know one!!! Number 9 is ... ummm... I think called "The Black Freighter"... Storm Force Ten, the album I first heard it on, is within 6 feet of me, but my vinyl is stacked against the back wall and there's a few stacks of things in front of it so I'll just shoot this off so I can be corrected that much sooner.

7 is Hurt and most people know the Johnny Cash version which is on American Masters... IV I think, but it's a cover and was orginally by one of the guys in... I'm pretty sure it was Nine Inch Nails.

ETA: Oops, answered without looking at other comments and I see [livejournal.com profile] bitterguy already got that one.
