Get a language coach, wo chiu chiu ni...

If you think my Mandarin is bad, with each passing episode Joss Whedon's use of Mandarin in Firefly gets on my nerves more and more. I've almost completely given up trying to figure out what the actors are trying to say, it's pronounced so badly it's incomprehensible.

In general, Firefly's growing on me, except for Cry-Me-A-River. Shut up, River. At least she didn't say anything this episode.

Please just take this song from me

Take my love, take my land.
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me

Take me out to the black
Tell 'em I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me

Have no place I can be
Since I found Serenity
But you can't take the sky from me

First Enterprise's frelling theme song I had to claw screaming from my head and now it's Firefly's. Shoot me, please.

It's about time

A batch of Doctor Who audio adventures from Big Finish Productions arrived in the mail. I had been in need of new Doctor stories for a long time and the novels just weren't cutting it - so I caved an ordered a passel of Eighth Doctor adventures.

I have to admit, when the strains of a re-arranged Doctor Who theme started coming out of the speakers at the end of the "teaser" to Storm Warning, the first of the Eighth Doctor audio adventures, with the Doctor (Paul McGann) facing the threat of dimensional-travelling Vortisaurs about to burst into the TARDIS, I had this big goofy grin on my face.

Gods, I've missed the Doctor so. I'm expecting a lot from Big Finish - I hope they don't let me down.
