Hookergate

I am shocked - shocked, I say, at the allegations of cronyism, corruption and moral turpitude surrounding such prominent members of the Bush administration and its assorted associated agencies. Taking bribes from defence contractors? Government contracts being given to companies with dubious financial backgrounds? There's never been a hint that this stuff has been going on, has there?

It's not just that the Emperor has no clothes. It's just that he insists on walking around naked and thinks no one will notice.

Midterms in November, guys. Don't disappoint me.

Word.

It's so easy to be cynical these days.

*sigh*

Aww, come on! Everybody knows that Porter leaving was "just one of those mysteries"! And that all the other allegations -- even the ones people have pled guilty to -- are just lies, handled eagerly by activist judges and thrown back to the wolves well-known liberally biased press! Especially that not-at-all funny Colbert guy! Duke was just having some fun, and Tom, well, he'll be back! (Bob Ney? Who's he?) </sarcasm>

November 2006. Resurrect America; restore the Constitution

Does "shocked" mean that you are surprised? Or is it unsurprised and outraged?
Because it certainly does not surprise me... or anyone in Europe.

The second. It's a sarcastic "shocked".

More like sarcasm, really. :)

You know, my boss is the sister-in-law of the guy being investigated for the Duke Cunningham thing.

It's been a weird year.

I don't know about walking around naked. More like running up to people, flinging out his arms, waggling his tackle (which is nothing to write home about) and going "Yaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!" And then thinking no-one will notice.

And is anyone taking bets that by 2008 he'll still be there? Because such is my faith in the democratic process that I fancy a flutter...

Problem is, while Bush's approval ratings are down to 30% and there's general polling sentiment about voting for the Democrats in November, I'm not that sanguine about them winning back control of either House due to the general gerrymanding by both parties making House seats very hard to contest in general as well as the general feeling that the Dems just don't have a better plan than what failed them in 2004; i.e. running on "We're still not Bush! Really!" isn't a strong platform.
