1. What's the best thing abuot being a wizard on TIM?
The ability to police twinkish behavior that annoyed the fuck out of me when I was a player but I couldn't do anything about it. Generally, it's the ability to give help where it's needed and dispense swift retribution where required. It indulges my super-hero power fantasies and makes me feel I'm doing something that benefits the community as a whole and keep TIM an enjoyable experience. It isn't always, but as you know, those are longer stories than can be gone into here.
2. Considering that it didn't last, do you regret having gotten married?
Not really. It was an experience, like any other, and had good bits and bad bits. I can't regret it because the bust-up, as traumatic as it was, led on to other things, like my involvement in the filk music scene. If it hadn't been for her, I would have wound up on a very different path, and may not have been where I am now - about to do a History degree in Georgia. We are the sum total of the events and experiences that make us who and what we are right now in space-time, so unless I regret where I am now, I can't regret what brought me here.
3. Do you think you want to stay in the States long term (if you can), or are you figuring you'll see how the two years goes, then decide?
If you ask me right now, I'd want to stay in the US for as long as I can, but then I haven't stayed in the US for any extended period so I don't really want to commit myself either. If I have to suffer through another 4 years of the Shrub... you know. But right now, yes.
4. Who's your favorite TIMster (past or present)?
My best TIMster mate and fellow inducted wizard,jost, of course
5. What are you going to miss the most about Singapore?
As I said inkaasirpent's interview, the food. Queuing up and selecting various bits of stuffed vegetables and meats for yong tau foo, the smell of frying char kway teow, the taste of an Old Chang Kee curry puff, the starchy gravy with the bite of vinegar and ginger of a bowl of lor mee. Sigh.
