Funny Money
For one of his movie's key scenes -- a massive bar bet that involves lots of drinking -- Ellsworth needed cash. Not real cash, just fake greenbacks, enough to look good on camera. So he scanned some bills into his MacIntosh, printed them out, and went out to do some errands. When he got back on January 14, six Burbank cops met him at the door. He assumed they were there about a pesky neighbor. But they'd been called by a woman in an adjacent building, who'd spied through his window, and they wanted him. "They said, "You making money in here?' I said, "No, I'm making props for my movie!'" He told them to look at his script. Instead, they started grilling him.
