Had one today (well, yesterday now, technically) - a small get-together at a friend's house, members of the now defunct Science Fiction Association of Singapore all (with one absorbed by marriage and the other recently married to a fellow member). We watched the extended version of The Fellowship of the Ring as a kind of refresher for the upcoming second part. Watched the movie, had a great home-cooked pasta dinner afterward, looked at said recent wedding photos, watched a bit of football (the opening half of this evening's Manchester United v Arsenal match, less said about the better) and left for home, all in all, a satisfying day spent among old friends.

Speaking of The Two Towers, I'll be watching it on the 23rd, at GV Gold, a luxury cinema with plush seats. The bunch I'm watching it with figures that if we're going to going to watch a three-hour movie, we might as well do it in class. There're precious few movies I'd shell out the extra money for, but The Two Towers is one of them.

So it's back home, and indulging in my own Christmas prezzie to myself - Inspector Morse - The Complete Series, all 33 episodes of the best damned detective series ever on DVD neatly filed in a very nice faux filing drawer made out of reinforced cardboard. At about 103 minutes per episode, I'll be a while matching wits with Morse - I've never seen about half of the episodes, and many of them are original stories so it'll be a lot of fun trying to solve them before Morse does - although the series is so well written I know from past experience that usually Morse and I come to the solution at almost the same time. And I got the set at £136, which is lucky because Amazon.co.uk seem to have raised the price to £160 just after I ordered it.

Anyway, hope all of you have a lovely Non-Denominational Winter Solstice Observance Season.
