The Antigravity Underground
Jul. 9th, 2003 09:07 pmInteresting article in Wired: "The Antigravity Underground", about what enthusiasts claim are antigravity machines. They're not, really. They actually ionize the air and use what's known an "ion wind" effect to lift the currently very light machines off the ground. It also takes an incredible amount of voltage - potentially lethal, in fact. But the potential for using it for air travel is there, even though for space travel it's right out, as it can't work in a vacuum. I like the idea of the name "ion lifters", and I'm going to use that in whatever SF concept I come up with next.
