iChat AV 2.1 beta for OS X 10.3 and AIM 5.5 for Windows can now communicate via videoconferencing!

Uh, not that anyone wants to actually see me in all my hideous glory.

While I can take credit for most of the concepts in there, in case anybody didn't get it, I was channeling Warren Ellis' should-be-legendary SF journalist hero, Spider Jerusalem, of Transmetropolitan fame, which ended its five-year run about a year or so ago. If you haven't read the series yet, hie thee to your nearest comic store immediately and start reading the trade paperbacks.
