Thanks for the feedback. It's not that I'm taking people unfriending me personally - I know better than that. It's just that I am aware of the limitations of friends pages and I don't really want my friends' LJ reading experience rendered more painful by having to slog through my political rants if they're only really interested in my life.
On the other hand, splitting the journal is not a palatable solution because at the end of the day it's easier for me to keep everything down onto one journal. And frankly, the political ranting is part of who I am, as well as my desire to point out pieces of news that I find interesting. But in the end, I am soliciting opinions because I'm pointing these things out for you guys. If you don't wanna read them, I can just as read them myself and not point them out.
I briefly considered a [politics] filter, but that would mean friend-locking those entries and I don't want to do that, either, because they are of a public nature.
I suppose what I'm trying to say is that I'm going to leave things as they are. There are going to be cut-tags, and you can probably tell from the context whether those entries are political or news-related or not. Best I can say is that I'll try not to post too many entries a day, or do a "Political Roundup" kind of entry.
And let's put it this way: with any luck, once the Shrub is out of the White House, I'll have less reason to rant and rave.
