I Will Defend To The Death Your Right To Say It, But It's Still A Load Of Crap

Jon Stewart was on Crosstalk today. Now, I don't watch Crosstalk, or pay attention to it precisely for the reasons Stewart outlines here - it's shallow spectacle disguised as hard-hitting debate. It's pablum. I didn't know Stewart was going on, so I didn't catch it, but after reading the transcript, I wish I had.

Here, we see Stewart not really in funny mode and actually begging the Crosstalk pair to live up to their responsibilities. And they look at him like he just said Jesus was Jewish, like he was insane. I don't believe they don't understand what he's trying to say - I think they're being deliberately obtuse because they know perfectly well they're partisan hacks but that's what they're being paid for.

I feel like weeping. And I'm sure Stewart does too.

Here's Factcheck.org's take on the last Presidential Debate.

For the general gist, here's their opener:
The debates are over and the results are clear: both candidates are incorrigible fact-twisters.
