Geekier than thou
Jun. 29th, 2005 09:54 amHmm. According to
plaid_dragon, I'm one of the 5 geekiest person she knows. I have no idea if I should be insulted or pleased, but, apparently...
List 5 reasons why you are a geek. And make them good reasons. Justify them. Explain them. Be loud and proud about how big of a geek you are! Then pick the 5 biggest geeks you know and have them do the meme.
1. I've given names to my personal accessories since secondary (high) school. My Powerbook is Charity, my umbrella du jour is always Stormbringer, my iPod is Calliope, my Baby Taylor is Lilith (and it even has a middle name, Julie, after Julie Schwartz, whose grandson I bought the guitar from). My latest acquisition, my Motorola V3 Razr mobile phone is identified on my network as TARDIS - Telephony And Relative Dimensions in Space.
2. As a corollary to that, my ringtone is currently the sound of the TARDIS taking off, the mobile phone wallpaper is the police box exterior (naturally), and for those who have watched the new 2005 series up to "The Empty Child", when I receive an SMS the phone pipes up with "Mummy?" Oh, and the alarm is a screeching "Exterminate!"
3. To paraphrase Calvin, I may not necessarily remember your name, but I can remember the real names of every member of the Legion of Super-Heroes (pre-reboot era), and most of the Reserve members. Give me a while and I may even be able to come up with the order they joined. And that's just the tip of a very scary iceberg of comic book trivia gathered over 32 years of reading.
4. I had a friend make me a Gryffindor scarf because I pointed out that the colours almost correspond to that of the Prydonian Chapter of the Time Lord Academy (scarlet and gold). I also grew my hair long so I could look more "Doctorish", but sadly that hair is gone now.
5. I did my thesis on the legal history of an underground comic book, thereby combining both my storehouse of comic book knowledge and my legal training. Applied geekery!
I honestly don't know who to tag - "Most geeky" is just so relative, and anyone I can think of is probably less geeky than I am, so it's hard. So, anyone can take this up if they want.
