I am grateful for [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily, because from it, I can see enough of the obscenity that is the Marvel Universe these days and not have to actually touch those issues with my bare hands and then have to disinfect them with a blowtorch afterward. Of course, I still have to scrub out my eyeballs with Lysol, but that's another story.

I mean, this. And this. Or this and this.

By the way, the last piece of dialogue in that last link is the best epitaph I've heard for Civil War so far. That, and the characterization of the insanity of the past year as the worst lover's tiff (feel the Steve/Tony man love) in history.

Seriously. What is wrong with these people?

I've been saying that the only reason I can see to even consider buying Microsoft Vista to run on my Intel Mac Pro is because of DirectX 10, i.e. for games. However, the games that are DirectX 10 capable don't really seem to be gaining forward movement in terms of release. Now it turns out, as in this Computerworld article, that despite claims of backward compatibility, some popular current games written for XP are slow and buggy on Vista. Flaky drivers, corrupt graphics, stuff like that.

My favourite bit of the article has to be this one, though:
DirectX 10 is so advanced that even Vista’s advanced desktop interface, dubbed "Aero," relies on the previous-generation DirectX 9 technology.
I couldn't sniggering for five minutes.
