Top Bush aide in intensive care
US Attorney General John Ashcroft is in intensive care undergoing treatment for problems with his pancreas.Well, you're the guy who believes in a wrathful God, John.
The 61-year-old former Missouri senator has a severe case of gallstone pancreatitis, his chief spokesman said.
Mr Ashcroft had to cancel an engagement on Thursday due to what he thought was a stomach bug, but a White House doctor sent him to hospital.
He is being treated with antibiotics and is expected to spend several days in hospital.
Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas.
It can be caused by excessive alcohol use, but in Mr Ashcroft's case it appears a gallstone blocked the passage leading from the pancreas to the beginning of the small intestine.
It also may be caused by infection, injury or certain medications.
Symptoms include sudden, severe abdominal pain, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and fever.
So... maybe you should take the hint.
I'm just sayin'.
