I Like Brunettes
Words and music © 2001 by John Lester
I like brunettes
I think I finally realized
That I like brunettes
I really lose it for those big brown eyes
There must be a hundred pop songs
Written about blondes
And I'm not trying to tell you
That the writers were wrong
It's just the topic I don't get
Because I like brunettes
It started with Veronica and Betty
On a Saturday kids cartoon
And when the kids asked me Ginger or Mary Ann
I never had a problem to choose
I must have been twelve years old when I already knew
'Cause dark haired divas ruled my TV tube
And though my daddy hadn't fumbled
Through his speech about the ways of a woman yet
I knew that I like brunettes
They're witty and they're wonderful
I like brunettes
I think they're my kind of girl
So hey there Cupid
Get your love arrow ready
And draw back your bow
Keep your aim real steady
Now don't you forget
That I like brunettes
So then I moved to California
But LA didn't do it for me
Well, sure I like the sunshine and the beaches
And being right next to the sea
But give me a foggy San Francisco night
With a brown haired beauty by the fireside
I'll be sipping cabernet
Not caught in some dismay about how far I'll get
Because I like brunettes
And it's not just the way they walk
I like brunettes
Because they can talk
I don't make broad statements as a general rule
And the blonde population may now find me uncool
But I've got no regrets
Because I like brunettes
Well there's more to you woman than just your hair color
You're one of a kind and you're not like any other
But if you're trying to win me
I think you should be hedging your bets
Because I like brunettes
I think I finally realized
I always lose it for those big brown eyes
They're witty and they're wonderful
Oh, I think they're my kind of girl
So hey there Cupid
Get your love arrow ready
And draw back your bow
Keep your aim real steady
Now don't you forget
That I like brunettes
