khaosworksSpeculation runs rife as to who's behind this. Osama Bin Laden seems to be the prime suspect, but with everyone and his kid brother stumbling over themselves trying to disavow responsibility (for to do otherwise would be to invite a Tomahawk up your ass), it's probably not too wise to jump to the conclusion that it's an Islamic religious thing.
On some level, I still can't believe this is happening. Having so many friends in the States, I feel connected enough to be stunned, yet not enough to feel it on a fundamental level. My first thoughts on looking at the footage of the then-standing World Trade Center towers was, "Where's the Avengers and the Fantastic Four when you need them?" It just seemed that surreal.
I'm still trying to process the ramifications of this event. What's going to happen after this? What is going to be America's response? What did anyone hope to achieve by doing something like this? This is simply going to invite reprisals, that's all. You can't imagine that the US would allow those responsible to simply get away with it, due process or not. If there's so much as a whiff of someone's involvement, they should strike back and strike back hard. To do so otherwise would be just unthinkable, too weak for words.
Oh my God, I just saw the footage of the second plane hitting the South Tower of the WTC again on BBC World. Fucking unbelievable.
I really should get to bed. But I'm not sure I can sleep. I could murder a pizza. I need someone to hug. I need to do something life-affirming. I need to be with my friends. God save the dead and wounded.
