Update from the sib
Sep. 12th, 2001 01:18 pmJust got a phone call from Jasmin - she's camping overnight in the Sports Center at NYU because everything in Lower Manhattan is being closed off. She says they're treating them pretty good, and feeding them well. "I actually had something besides instant noodles," she says. "And I had sauerkraut." I'm so glad.
Okay, sarcasm aside, she's pretty much stuck in, so all the news she's gotten so far is that they managed to divert a van carrying explosives to the George Washington Bridge. I told her to look out for the F-16s.
Dear God, so many people... but pretty soon, people will get used to this and the state of emergency will become status quo. The human mind is pretty resilient when it comes to stuff like this. After the initial stage of trauma, all extraneous input is shuffled away as irrelevant and the body gets on with the business of living.
Think about that when you're trying to make good people back down, you terrorist motherfuckers.
