Dubya should really fire whoever comes up with these names for him. Really. First, Operation Infinite Justice, which even Rumsfeld now admits is an embarassment and is to be changed, and now this - the Office of Homeland Security. What the fuck? Might as well call it the Komitet Gosudarstvennoi Bezopasnosti.

Why not call it something like the Domestic Security Advisor? It's definitely less creepy sounding. It's a rhetorical question, of course. The answer is, because Dubya is a dingbat.

Before this goes any further, better remember what Ben Franklin said. "Those who would trade their civil liberties for security deserve neither."

But I actually like Gov. Ridge.

He seemed to be fine as Gov of Pennsylvania.

Granted, I wasn't pay that much attention, but he seemed just fine. =)

Oh, I'm sure Ridge is a fine choice. I'm just bitching about the complete lack of thought put into the title of his new office.

As much as I dislike W. I've been impressed with who he's picked as staff. I've liked Powell for a long time. And Ridge is a Republican that I might have voted for had he run for president. He might be surrounding himself with his Daddy's old staff, but at least they've got the 'Been there, done that'-thing going for them.

I trust them a lot more than I trust W. himself.

Anyways... enough of my ramblings... what the hell do I know? *wink*
