CNN has confirmed it is not a 767, but an Airbus A300, it was not incoming but leaving JFK for Santa Domingo, in the Dominican Republic. The smoke is turning white, which is an indication that the dousing is working. No indications this is anything but an accident - which, as dreadful as it sounds, I hope it is, engine failure and not terrorist activity. Nobody is jumping to any conclusions yet.
