Sadly, I don't know that much about the Grateful Dead, but the lyrics of "Truckin'" have the potential to be interpreted as a cross-country magical road-trip to resurrect the mystical Doo-Dah man, complete with warnings about being set up and pursued by dark forces down in New Orleans and the use of marijuana as a component in the summoning. Has a Tim Powers-ish feel to the entire idea, really.

Fwiw, "Truckin" was the recessional at my high school graduation. The grownups let us get away with it because they were so happy to see us agree on something they didn't care what it was we agreed upon.
