I bought the DVD Widescreen Edition of Lord of the Rings even though I'm getting the Special Extended Version DVD in November. I mean, it was just sitting there on the store shelf, calling to me.

Funnily enough, there's this cursive writing on the rim after I throw it in the fire. But it's mine, all mine my precioussssssss....

But, see.. if you want the theatrical release, you HAVE to get both. Which is kinda cheap but I don't mind so much. (yeah, I'm getting them both too)

"Resistance is futile. Exterminate."

Actually, I'm holding out till all 3 Lord of the Rings DVDs come out in WideScreen before watching all of them in one sitting. I haven't seen any of the movie at all.

I did break down and buy the Harry Potter DVD but that cured me of buying anymore DVDs of movies adapted from books.

Currently wondering if I should get MysteryMen on DVD.

I am holding out for the version that has the deleted scenes. For the meantime, I'll just be content to rewatch the high quality DVD rip that I downloaded off Kazaa.

btw, does anyone know what happened to Comics Asylum? Both stores in Orchard MRT and Lucky Plaza were closed when I went down and they haven't been answering the phone.

I don't buy comics that often these days but I heard that Vol 2 of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is out. Comics Asylum has good stock (they carry PVP while Comics Mart says that it is only on special order) and is the only store close by to me.

Yes, they've been closed for at least 2 weeks now. As for LoEG, I believe that Vol 2 has just only started. Are you referring to the individual issues or the collection?

No clue. I've been getting my fix from the Mart for so long now (and what a glorious 16 years it has been) that I've virtually forgotten there are other comic shops on the island.

I used to be a Comics Mart regular too. Very convenient location because it was along the bus route on the way home from school. That was when I used to live on Bukit Timah.

There were a whole raft of comic shops at that time (mid-80s to early nineties) but one by one they dropped out as the comic book fever died out. Nowadays there's only a handful of comic shops hanging on. In a lot of cases, they've branched out into distributing game cards, toy figures, etc.

I live on the East Coast now and its quite hard to find a decent, well stocked comic shop with friendly knowledgeable owners these days.

I saw some today at the store. It was all I could do to not shoplift one.

I was still dithering about whether or not to get this version, since I know I want the november one... but my friends visiting from Germany actually got it for me as a gift. :) Which means I have the German *and* English version. :)

I thought Lord Of The Rings was a horrible film that was too busy concentrating on lush scenery to make any effort at a decent plot beyond "oh no, monsters, kill kill kill, ah we're safe... ooh nice scenery.... oh no, monsters!" and so on. I'll run away now while you all chase me with assorted fantasty novel weapons.

I'm trying desperately to hold off until November for the full release. Must...resist...augh....
