Standoff continues with man in tractor near Washington Monument
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A tobacco farmer claiming to have explosives held more than 100 police at bay from his partially submerged tractor Tuesday, paralyzing traffic and rattling nerves in a city already on heightened alert for terrorist threats and war with Iraq."And there shall be signs... a talking fish speaking Hebrew... an earthquake 34 miles from Athens, GA... a man with a tractor on the Washington Mall... and a dipshit in the White House." Well, it is the full moon after all...
"We don't know what's contained in those vehicles, so we're prepared for the worst," said Sgt. Scott Fear, a spokesman for the U.S. Park Police. "We believe he's dangerous, absolutely."
Federal and local police armed with automatic weapons stayed about 100 yards back from the large pond in Constitution Gardens, a federal park bordered by the Washington Monument, the Vietnam War Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial. Traffic was barred from an eight-block area around the site, which left much of Washington in gridlock during rush hour for the second straight day. Bridges over the Potomac River were jammed.

Shrub may indeed be trying to precipitate the End Days ... but I doubt those are quite the signs he's trying to scry. Good thing, too.
