1. What will you miss the most about Singapore when you come to the US?
The food. Good God, the food. I'll miss the milky taste of authentic Katong laksa, the bite of Hokkien noodles, the smell of burning satay and otah, the sweetness of red rubies and sago, barbecued stingray in sambal chili on banana leaf and a million other things. I'm telling you, if I could transplant anything, it'd be the food. That's the best reason to visit Singapore.
2. Do you think you will ever want to go through the whole 'law' thing in the US and practice here, or are you pretty much done with that?
I honestly don't know. It seems too much of an effort to have to go through another 4 years of law school again, and then the bar exams. I promised myself that if I ever left the Legal Service (i.e. government employ), I'd leave the profession and that part hasn't really changed. But never say never.
3. I admire your passion for getting at the truth. Where does that stem from?
Comic book morality, I guess. Superman never lies - or if he does, it's in a good cause. The administration of justice requires a passion for truth, as well - or at least, the truth you can prove by the rules. In an uncertain world, the only thing you can rely on, ultimately, is the truth, because you can't run away from reality. Ultimately, that is why truth is stronger than lies, and all lies will eventually crumble, because they don't jibe with what empirically exists.
4. Do you see yourself becoming a naturalized citizen of the United States? (Hell, you already know more about our history, government, etc. than most of us do....)
If I stick around long enough (or am allowed to stick around long enough) for it to happen, I'd probably take it. America's got a good heart. It's the heads that I want to kick the crap out of.
5. What's the strongest geeklust you're harboring right now? (You know...for hardware.)
Currently? The Palm Tungsten C. 64MB RAM. Intel 400 MHz processor. Built in Keyboard. 802.11b built-in. Yummy, but still a bit off budget at $499.

Date: 2003-06-04 07:41 pm (UTC)This may be why I have never been a big Superman fan. I like a litle more...moral ambiguity in my comics.
