Bob Woodward from the Washington Post did extensive research regarding the presidency's immediate reaction to the events of September 11, 2001. Much of this was documented in a book published last fall. Woodward has been publishing similar accounts for the past thirty years on various presidential affairs and crises back to the 1970s when he and Bernstien published their first reports on the Watergate affair.

A whole chapter in Woodward's book details the events of September 11, 2001, with an emphasis on the government's response. Although the book does discuss in detail many things the government and others found wrong with the whole process of crisis containment on that date, much of it is entirely opposed to the conclusions presented by this article.
