Not going to be reading LJ.

Not going to be good with e-mail.

Deadline doom.

30-page paper due by next Monday.

10-page paper due by next Friday.

The former, a study of the legal history surrounding police interrogations and the effects of Miranda v. Arizona, is a problem not of writing, but of length. It's going to go way over the limit, in fact, and the problem will be finding time to write everything down and pull together the sources. How over the limit? Let's put it this way - the introduction itself is 7 pages.

10-page paper is... well, it's going to be okay once I figure out what the hell it's going to be about. The sources are in front of me - it's about slavery in antebellum and Civil War America - I just have to find a hook to pull it together.

Sleep? Sleep is for tortoises.

P.S. Anyone in Georgia, or environs, want to put up with a starving grad student over the last couple of weeks of December? It's going to be lonely in Athens. I can bring DVDs.

Good luck, Terence - I shall direct all my grad-school-good-vibes in your direction. (Yeah, well, it's the best I can do!) *grin* I'll be thinking of you when I'm not trying to figure out how to tell interview committees anything meaningful about my research in under 5 minutes.
