Remember 'Allo 'Allo?
Whatever you may think of the series, there's one thing I always loved about it and will brook no argument... the theme music was beautiful.
I found out today that there were actually lyrics to it - but only a fragment has been revealed. So, taking that, here's my version of the theme song from 'Allo 'Allo.
(now, if only I could figure out the chords on guitar... any help?)
'Allo 'Allo
by David Croft and Roy Moore
additional lyrics by Terence Chua
'Allo 'Allo, we meet again
And just as before
Our eyes reveal the secrets we
Keep hidden
It seems it was so long ago
That we said goodbye
With promises we left
Unspoken
The final encore
You are my love, my only love
Once more
(instrumental)
The final encore
You are my love, my only love
Once more
'Allo 'Allo, my only love
'Allo 'Allo...

Date: 2004-02-02 05:37 pm (UTC)Let me take a crack at it...(chords are lined up to go with the lines of lyrics as you typed them):
(intro: C/G, G7)
Fmaj7 G13/B
Em7 Am7
D9/F#* Fmaj7
C Am7
Fmaj7 G13/B
Em7 Am7
Dm7 C
F7 G7
C F7
Em Fdim7
E F#m
Dmaj7 G7
Fmaj7 Em(7?)
F7 Dm7
F Dm7-G C
(trans. to key change:) F Eb6? or maybe B7/D#?
next section is same chords in E major instead of C major, all chords up a major 3rd.
I'm at work right now and can't check this out on an instrument but I am sure these are pretty close.
Notes on playing some of these chords:
the G13/B you could probably get away with playing G7; the 13th is in the melody at that point.
Hm. All the rest of the chords are actually pretty easy to play. (i.e., I could play them on a guitar, and I'm just learning. Although F7 (not Fmaj7) is a pain, and it happens several times.) If you perform the song without the key change it should be pretty doable.
