Due to a little ordering glitch, I have wound up with two - count 'em - two copies of "Bradbury Stories: 100 of Bradbury's Most Celebrated Tales"... that's Ray Bradbury, not Malcolm.

Since I got them at two bits each under the Science Fiction Book Club's introductory promotion, and I of course have no real use for the second copy, I'm offering it to whoever wants it and pops over to Athens to get it from me.

Yes, my generosity knows strict bounds.

Drat! You know, if I was closer I would have been after that book in a flash.

I've always had a great fondness for sci-fi short stories. I think a lot of it is because the short story format allows an author to concentrate more on the sci-fi concept and less on character development and interesting plot arcs. It's a one-trick pony, which is a good thing when it's a neat trick. I checked out the Bradbury collections _S If For Space_ and _R Is For Rocket_ many many times while I was in middle school (elementary school? I don't remember any more) and absolutely loved them. I also have the five volume Phil Dick short story collection floating around the house somewhere. Dick's novels (at least the later, more drug-addled ones) have less draw for me than the stories. Every other time a sci-fi movie comes out these days, I point at the TV and say "Look, they're ripping off another Dick story", and half the time I'm right.
