You know, re-watching the Stargate movie again, it's so hard for me not to mentally substitute Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks in place of Kurt Russell and James Spader.

Or get a rush when you see the Stargate being raised from the sands at Giza for the first time - and especially when you see the scene of Daniel considering whether to accept Catherine Langford's offer of the job to decipher the hieroglyphs on the cartouche... knowing what happens if he doesn't ("There But For The Grace Of God"). Small things.

After they go through the gate, though, the rest of the movie is pretty much downhill. It's still pretty much as I remembered it. I recall watching it in the cinema with [livejournal.com profile] logam and commenting, "The moral of the story is - go to another planet and within fifteen minutes a half-naked alien babe will fall in love with you." It's a real tribute to the producers of the TV show that it was so much better than what preceded it.

Yeah, I'm procrastinating again. Got exams to grade.

Yeah, I understand that feeling. I spent all of Wednesday grading. Today I got to write their first exam. Well, actually, I got to write two exams, because my sections have a break between them and it's theoretically possible that someone could cheat if I gave them the same exam. (It'd be hard, but it might be possible.) So I wrote two exams today and photocopied them.

God, the excitement.

Next week I get to grade them...

Have you watched the Special Edition?
