Schwarzenegger Lays Out Election Views

By ERICA WERNER, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON - Arnold Schwarzenegger, making his Sunday talk show debut as governor, said that he and other foreign-born citizens should be eligible to run for the White House and that President Bush can carry California in November if he does more to help the state. Not that I disagree with Der Gropenführer on letting foreign-born citizens being eligible to run for the highest office in the land, but dude, could you come up with a better example than Henry "I orchestrated the bombing of Cambodia" Kissinger? Henry "I liaised with the CIA to off Salvador Allende" Kissinger? Henry "Genocidal Cold Warrior" Kissinger who accepted the Nobel Peace Prize without a trace of irony? And lest people think I'm letting Madeline "NATO can do what the fuck it likes and the UN can go fish" Albright, Madeline "Half Million Dead Iraqi Children Because of Sanctions" Albright off easy, well... no.
...
"There are so many people in this country that are now from overseas, that are immigrants, that are doing such a terrific job with their work, bringing businesses here, that there's no reason why not," said Schwarzenegger, who became a U.S. citizen in 1983.
"Look at the kind of contribution that people like Henry Kissinger have made, Madeleine Albright," he said, referring to two former secretaries of state who were born in Europe.
Schwarzenegger said on NBC's "Meet the Press' that he has been too busy with California's problems to contemplate a future run for the White House. "I have no idea, I haven't thought about that at all," he said.
Oh yeah, those are examples of leaders that'll assure people.

Date: 2004-02-23 04:47 pm (UTC)That right there is utter bullshit. He knows the impact of what he says. I don't like his politics, but I know what kind of mind he has and I respect it.

Whoever wrote that report wasn't paying attention.

California Belongs To Me
Date: 2004-02-24 01:40 am (UTC)(tune: "Tomorrow Belongs To Me", from _Cabaret_)
A crisis of power will lead to a fall,
Where there's an opportunity.
Because when the voters cry out, "Recall!"
California belongs to me.
One hundred and thirty-four candidates bland,
All groping in vain; can't they see:
I've got this election gripped in my hand,
California belongs to me.
The Golden State throws out its Gray girlyman,
This script shooting's smooth as can be.
The vote counting wraps up; it's in the can,
California belongs to me.
As Governator, I am now right on track,
On route to the Presidency.
America, watch out 'cause I'll be back,
California belongs to me.
California belongs,
California belongs,
California belongs to me.
