George W. Bush Is A Liberal Pinko Gay-Loving Pro-Abortion Anti-Gun Pro-Evolution Clintonite

By Mr. Terence Chua, America's Most Starving Pundit
(except for that homeless guy down the block who's always drooling and screaming about Socialist Alien Mind Control Laser Satellites)

But hey, don't take my word for it - read "Why Christians Should Not Vote for George W. Bush" on intellectualconservative.com. Bush supports abortion for rape victims and incest, so that means he isn't really pro-life. He's appointed homosexuals to government positions, so that means he's a sodomite. He bowed to a Shinto shrine in Japan and endorsed Ramadan at a White House celebration, so that means he's a God-hating heathen. He's supported the current gun control laws, so he's an anti-gun wimp. The list of crimes in the article go on and on. And documented! With footnotes!
Do I believe that sincere, well-meaning Christians can vote for George Bush and be right with God?  Sure!  I believe that a sincere, well-meaning Christian can vote for Howard Dean and be right with God!  Having an IQ greater than a slug is not necessary in order to be a Christian.  Unintended ignorance can destroy a nation, however, and God’s people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge. (Hosea 6:4)  It is intentional, willful, or malicious ignorance in the absence of the fear of God that brings culpability (Proverbs 9), and of this I fear many professing Christians are guilty in their endorsement of George Bush in spite of the abundance of evidence of his bad fruit.
So, it's official. Bush is a fruit. Somehow, we knew. We always knew.
In George W. Bush, the church has elected a government leader after its own image.  Our government and society have descended headlong into the sewage of immorality because the church has.  Homosexuals and pro-abortion activists fill our government offices because they fill our pews and choir lofts.  We have largely ceased to be the salt of the United States of America, and Jesus promised that we’ll be cast out and trodden under the boot heels of wicked men. Judgment must first begin in the House of God.  Suffering and tyranny will be our lot if we persist in our lukewarmness.  There are many more September 11’s coming, America.  The II Chronicles 7:14 remedy for national forgiveness and healing includes that we “turn from (our) wicked ways.”  If the American church doesn’t repent for tolerating sin and leaving our first love, then the Lord will remove our candlestick. However, if we repent of our tolerance of sin and judge ourselves, if we put impenitent sinners out of the church as I Corinthians 5 instructs, the Lord promises that we will not be judged.  If we pray in faith for godly leaders and act in accordance, then the Lord, who sets up and tears down kings, might restore the Republic.  The future of our nation and our liberties depends on our obedience to His law and will.
A-men, brother! Don't want to lose that candlestick. Thank you for showing us that intolerance and bigotry still live on in the fringe of Christian belief and is so loud that it drowns out the rest of us people who still believe, are but a little more observing of Jesus' exhortations to "Love the Lord with all your might... and thy neighbor as thyself."

Pass this to your nearest conservative Christian. George Bush is EVIL.

So vote Democrat, and pray for a miracle.

God bless America.

You know, that was worth reading if just for the word "lukewarmness." :)

Huh. I'm familiar with the pro-life, anti-gay justification, but any idea why being anti-gun is considered by the religious right to be against God's Word? Surely people can smite (or be smitten) well enough without semi-automatic weaponry? Perhaps it has to do with candlesticks - though I think that one has got to do with the parable about the bridesmaids (or was that oil? mm!). J

Apparently so...
As a Christian gun owner I asked myself some questions: "Is it right for a Christian to defend his family? Are lethal weapons in the hands of private citizens in keeping with the Bible?"

I discovered that the Bible has much to say about weapons. The word "sword" appears in over 400 verses in the Old and New Testaments.

The first passage I found that established the right of a homeowner to use deadly force was Exodus 22:2-4: "If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him. If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft. If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double."
This is from an article titled "What Does the Bible Say About Gun Control?" - a Google search for "God" and "Gun Control" and "Bible" will turn up more. Go ahead and read it, if you can stomach the logic in it...
The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that recognizes the right of a citizen to "keep and bear arms" is in harmony with the teachings of the Bible and should be upheld by Bible believing Christians. Therefore, legislation that has the effect of disarming law abiding citizens should be opposed by Christians who take the Bible seriously.

Well, since I shouldn't curse n swear in the presence of my children, I would merely point out, calmly, that it is a leap in logic to say that just because the O.T. makes references to the right to private defence (and to weaponry that would assist in such), this automatically means that attempts to implement gun control are the works of Satan. I'm surprised the writer can't do better.

Go'warn, bet you can't google me up some direct reference that says, "Thou shalt not restrict the right of your neighbour to bear arms". Not that I'm a big Bible scholar or anything, but I do know the (supposed) reasons/references concerning, e.g., Thou shalt not wank (and heterosexually fellate, even!), so I would have thought I'd be up on this kind of thing. Heh.

I'm not the one seeking a Biblical justification for gun proliferation (although I am in favor of the right to bear arms for other reasons), but really, the Bible is only straightforward in terms of prohibited behavior for a very narrow range of behaviors and acts.

If you really wanted to get into it, for example, there's also some theological basis to argue that homosexuality was not the sin of Sodom, the belief arising out of a 12th century misreading of Genesis. I could also argue versus the belief that abortion is prohibited by Leviticus, or that homosexuality per se is also prohibited by Leviticus (and for the former, have done so).

Point being, the Bible is rarely the clear, unvarnished document that people claim or would like it to be, so asking someone to find a clear statement to the effect that, "Thou shalt make no law infringing the right to bear arms" would be a bit unfair. A lot of it has to be interpreted from the surrounding contexts.

Unfortunately, hardline conservatives have been saying this ever since 1980, which was the first presidential election I paid close attention to--every Republican candidate fails to measure up in their eyes--even Reagan, way back when, didn't measure up--and yet they still vote Republican.

Which just means that these people are hypocrites like the rest of us....

In case it wasn't obvious, I was being semi-facetious anyway. :-)

But really, if this can convince even the nutters to go away from Bush... well, every little bit helps, as unlikely as that outcome may be.
