Woman collects human organs instead of drugs at airport

A woman who went to a New York state airport to collect packages of marijuana, ended up taking away human organs destined for transplant.

The incident happened at Buffalo Niagara International Airport when the woman arrived to pick up the packages which had arrived on a Delta Airlines flight.

She was given the packages containing a pulmonary valve and a saphenous vein by mistake. Transit police seized 140lbs of drugs.

Agents say the woman used a false name.

Some hours later, someone called the airport inquiring about the unclaimed packages of marijuana, and asked if they could still be picked up.

A woman subsequently arrived to exchange the organs for the drugs. Police were waiting and arrested her and a man who tried to flee the airport.

The organs were delivered to the two hospitals for surgery, reports the wgrz-tv website.

I left my heart in Buffalo doesn't have quite the same ring to it...

In San Francisco, if she was so stoned as to mistake organs for marijuana, she'd probably have tried to smoke them anyway.
