Got about an hour and a quarter before the gate opens, now. I'm near my transfer section in Changi Airport, sitting in a corner, can of Vanilla Coke (S$1.40) by my side along with my carry-ons (CPAP, backpack, guitar) and of course, Cassandra balanced on my lap. It used to be that there were neat little places where one could plug in a laptop for free, but apparently those have been removed. Now there are "free internet" sections, little islands with a few XP terminals each, and invariably those are being hogged by whatever passengers are trying to log in to Yahoo! India, or something.
Not wanting to compete with them, I figure - hey, wireless, right? Not quite. Now that Starhub (the local provider) figures that people will pay for bandwidth, wireless access at the airport is no longer free, unless you got an account with them. Not being able to call home to figure out what that account id is, I'm forced to cough up the S$9 per hour for wireless access. No biggie.
Anyway, waiting for flight. Tick tick tick. Will be flying from Singapore to Heathrow, thereupon to pick up my baggage, transfer via coach to Gatwick (not sure if it's included in my fare... customer service here weren't certain, so I'll have to inquire with ground staff at LHR) and check in again for the flight to Atlanta. Next time you hear from me will probably be when I'm back in Athens.
I hope my apartment is still there when I get back.
