Congratulations to the nominees!

Can't say I'm not disappointed that I didn't get nominated again because I was really hoping to break Talis Kimberley and Juanita Colson's record for consecutive nominations but no wins, but well deserved, all.

That's a term Colin and I used to bandy around in high school to describe things that were done by comic creators not because of any deep creative purpose but just because it was so darn cool. Which was inconsistent in its result as to whether it was any good or not. Examples include making Puck (of Alpha Flight) being a tall guy magically stunted into a dwarf instead of being a dwarf all along; Danielle Moonstar turning into a Valkryie; Thor becoming a frog. Even turned it into an acronym-verb: wibnism.

So I was thinking about City of Heroes and thinking to myself - wouldn't-it-be-neat if for an expansion, a zone, or even a whole server that they could do City of Heroes: Golden Age? Imagine - 1930s and 1940s architecture, vehicles, weapons - the predecessors of the gangs we see in present-day Paragon City - Bank robbers, mobsters, tommy guns - missions during World War II into enemy territory...

So, went down to Guitar Center - the guitar tech took a look at Lilith and decided that it'd be best to send for another neck from Taylor and replace the whole neck instead of trying to glue it back together. Apparently, this happens a lot to Taylors - so the good news is that not only can it be dealt with, there appears to be no overt damage to the rest of the guitar so if we're lucky, Taylor will consider it a defect and not an accident and therefore still covered under warranty. Even if Taylor decides otherwise, a new neck will cost about $70-$80, which is way better than buying a new guitar. I left Lilith there with the tech guy after drawing up the repair order.

So I'm relieved. The bad news is of course we have no idea when the new part will be sent over, so they'll call me when it's done and I'll have to arrange for a weekend to get down to Atlanta once again to pick Lilith up.

Still, load off my mind.
