Just saw this idea on the History Channel's "Tactical to Practical" - it's like geocaching, except that it's a race. You're given the co-ordinates for the first checkpoint and you go there to get the next and so on - six points in all, the last being the finish line, and the first to finish wins - or, as the site says, the winner is the one who reaches the most dashpoints.

Not that I'd do something like that... way too lazy, but it's an interesting geocaching variation.
