Guitar woes update
Aug. 26th, 2004 12:58 pmAfter another few frantic phone calls, including one to a dealer
autographedcat knows in Duluth, I have learned - much to my surprise since I am a complete novice when it comes to the technical sides of guitar construction - that the Baby Taylor has a bolt-on neck. A luthier I spoke to in Roswell suggested that it might be simpler and cheaper just to replace the neck rather than glue the headstock back on.
Calling the dealer in Duluth, he said that he wouldn't want to attempt a repair like that and suggested that I send it to Taylor instead. A call to Taylor's customer service center has revealed the name and address of a guy at a Guitar Center in Atlanta which is one of two Taylor repair centers in Georgia. I called Guitar Center up, and will be winging my way to them, hopefully, on Saturday - for reference, the address is 1485 NE Expressway #761, Atlanta GA 30329, number: (404) 320-7253.
According to the guitar tech, though, we're at the mercy of Taylor as far as getting a replacement neck goes, so I will be guitar-less at Worldcon... well, one less thing to lug around, I suppose.
