I was talking with

That it was not just a year after Aaron Boone smacked us down, but also that it was in Yankee Stadium, with the Yankees chanting "Who's your daddy?", with Bucky Dent throwing out the ball to Yogi Berra, on Mickey Mantle's birthday, for all that's holy. I mean, if the gods really were looking down ready to send out Nemesis to pimpslap Hubris, the latter surely belonged to the Yankees.
Given that kind of semiotic resonance, to face Houston in the World Series would really make our heads explode. So thank God and congratulation to the Cardinals, who deserve their shot at it, and being mean one more time, thank the universe for denying Roger Clemens his World Series ring.
Now let's get ready to play ball.
