I know I wasn't the only one converting everything I saw into CoH equivalents, or wondering if Cryptic could have done a cross-promotion with The Incredibles. Some random thoughts follow.
Okay, what do we have here?
Mr. Incredible is definitely a super-strength/invulnerable tanker, but damn, he needs a respec. I'm telling you, buddy, sprint just don't cut it. Take super jump at least, for pete's sake.
Elastigirl? Well, leaving aside whether it's a defender/scrapper AT - I'd personally agree with the defender (secondary) school, myself - what kinds of stretch powers? We have single long-range melee attacks, and the ability to stretch-grab a mob and bring him to closer range to whale on him, like teleport foe. If they can get swinging correctly, that's a travel power too. Shape-shifting into different objects is trickier as part of a power set.
Violet's a bubble defender with the concealment power pool, that's pretty obvious. Dash is a super speed SR scrapper. Closest to a primary would probably be MA, since he doesn't seem to have super-strength and doesn't use weapons, either.
Jack-Jack? At first I thought he was a fire tanker when he burst into fiery aura, but then he did some iron armor thing and then hulked out... oooo, new power set.
Frozone is such a classic ice controller - yay for Ice Patch on the Omnidroid! - and ice slide should be an option for ice manipulation characters as a travel power. They've already got power slide - just needs a different animation.
Syndrome is a tech-origin electric/devices blaster, flight power pool. I'd love to be able to do what he does with Tesla Cage, engage multiple targets and move the cages back and forth.
Doesn't the Omnidroid remind you of those teeny little Nemesis drones that crop up post-40? And speaking of flashes to CoH, the city looks like Steel Canyon, Nomanisan Island (now there's a subtle joke for you) reminds me of the nature preserve instanced outdoor map with the little outlying islands, Syndrome's guards look like they took fashion tips from Crey, and we only wish the lab tile set could look as cool.
Someone has mentioned already how close you can get to designing costumes very very close to the Incredibles' in the game.
I'd really like the ability to distract guards like in a stealth game (I'm thinking of that moment where Mr. Incredible knocks out a guard with rock and then that attracts other guards so that he can sneak through the doors while they're checking out their fallen comrade) instead of aggro'ing everyone on me. Just an idle wish - I don't expect it any time soon.
Edna "E" Mode's rant about capes - so true. That's why there are no revolving doors in Paragon City, children, after the hero called the Hangman suffered a tragically ironic death. But I'm keeping my cape for my ceremonial costume anyway.
Want. The. DVD.
