Okay, I know how much people hate Realplayer, but there's a reason to get it now. The BBC is now steaming BBC One, BBC Two, BBC 4 and BBC News 24 on the web.

BBC1: http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/rams/uni/bbc1.ram
BBC2: http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/rams/uni/bbc2.ram
BBC4: http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/rams/uni/video16.ram
BBC News 24: http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/rams/uni/news24.ram

Just add those URLs to your Realplayer Favorites, or download the .ram files and play them from your local drive. The quality is pretty good... well, it is now, but I'm not sure how good it'll be when a billion people are stampeding over their servers, but for now it's pretty sweet.

You know what this means, of course. Those of us outside the UK can now watch Doctor Who live. Edited to add: According to the BBC, some content will not be available to overseas viewers because of rights issues, so we may not get Doctor Who after all...

Still, more reason (as if I needed it) to run on UK time. BBC America, bah!

I always get my RealPlayer from the BBC's site. It is, by requirement of the BBC, not the invasive package that the regular version is. So I happily download it there.

Thanks for this. Have they also streamed BBC Three? It would be cool to watch Doctor Who Confidential after watching Dalek today.

That's reet handy that is! =:o}

Dare one ask how you found these? I've just been searching on the BBC site for any mention of streaming TV, and not found these mentioned. Is it perhaps something they're trialling and not intending the public to know about yet?

Someone mentioned it on the Outpost Gallifrey forums.

Aha! Steam television!

The streams seem to be down...

All the streams are down today -- so one wonders if the Beeb is taking our candy away, or if this is just an outage.

Either way, it was amazing to watch Dalek as it premiered in the UK - 2 PM Saturday, my time.
