I proposed a situation in which Legionnaires — pick your own cast — were pursuing bad guys across the Pacific in a Legion cruiser, finding a previously undiscovered time bubble in the Pacific which surrounded a long-deserted Blackhawk Island. I visualized a double-page spread of the War Wheel smashing into the Legion cruiser and cutting it in half, thus causing the Legionnaires to have to repair and fly out in the Blackhawks' old Lockheed F-90s. Wow, would I have had fun!

Crud. I never met him, but the impression I've gotten from reading about him was that he was a nice guy. He was certainly a hell of an artist.
