khaosworks: (Who?)
[personal profile] khaosworks
And the answers...

1. Coming in from London from over the pole
Flying in a big airliner
Chickens flying everywhere around the plane
Could we ever feel much finer?
Coming into Los Angeles
Bringing in a couple of kees
Don't touch my bags if you please
Mister customs man...

- "Coming into Los Angeles", Arlo Guthrie (sorry, I screwed up with the clue line)

2. To lead a better life
I need my love to be here
Here
Making each day of the year
Changing my life with a wave of her hand
Nobody can
Deny that there's something there...

- "Here, There and Everywhere", The Beatles

3. He always runs while others walk
He acts while other men just talk
He looks at this world and wants it all
So he strikes like thunderball...

- "Thunderball", Tom Jones

4. I was just wondering — hypothetically
What would you do — theoretically
If something should happen accidentally or medically
What if your girlfriend was gone?

- "What If Your Girlfriend Was Gone?", Carla Ulbrich (I would also accept "What If Your Butt Was Gone?", but that's actually her own parody of her original song. Hi Carla!)

5. Huh? Get a job?
What for?
I'm trying to think..
I was good, I could talk
A mile a minute
On this caffeine buzz I was on
We were really humming
We would talk everyday for hours
We belong to the Deadbeat Club
Anyway we can
We're gonna find some plan
We'll dance in the garden in torn sheets in the rain
We'll dance in the garden in torn sheets in the rain...

- "Deadbeat Club", The B-52s (and I've been to Normaltown and Allen's before it closed, although the beers weren't 25 cents anymore. I could also tell you how Normaltown got its name, but I digress...)

6. Are we rolling?
I don't mind if you go
I don't mind if you take it slow
I don't mind if you say yes or no
I don't mind at all
I don't care if you lived or died
Couldn't care less if you laughed or cried
I don't mind if you crashed or flied
I don't mind at all
I don't mind if you go
I don't mind if you say no
Couldn't care less, baby, let it flow
'Cause I don't care at all
Na na na na na na na...

- "The Great Song of Indifference", Bob Geldof

7. Philosophy gives itself freely to all of our minds
You have yours and I have mine
But I'll do you a favour completely free of charge
And tell you you're wrong and I'm right
If you think it over maybe you'll come round to seeing reason
Think it over — it's something that's out of your hands
But I'm going right out of my head
It's just a matter of time
Is there something that I could have said
That could make you change your mind
Or is it just the way your mind works?

- "Mind Works", Sam Brown

8. There was a farm on yonder hill
Up where the wind it blows-o
There lived a lady and her son
A bonny old brown cow-o
This cow was a bonny cow
But they needed money most-o
So she said, "Please take the cow —
"To market you must go-o."

- "Cowsong", Kate Rusby

9. Four have shared this room
We were caught up in the crack
Sleeping late on Sundays
And we never get to Mass
It's a long way from Clare to here
It's a long way from Clare to here
It's a long long way
Gets further by the day
It's a long long way from Clare to here...

- "From Clare to Here", Nanci Griffith (her cover from Other Voices, Other Rooms)

10. I've got a little black book with my poems in
Got a bag, a toothbrush and a comb
When I'm a good boy they sometimes throw me a bone
I've got elastic bands keeping my shoes on
Got these swollen hand blues
I got fourteen channels of shit on the TV to choose from
I got electric light
And I got second sight
Got amazing powers of observation
And that is how I know
When I try to get through
On the telephone to you
There'll be nobody home...

- "Nobody Home", Pink Floyd

I've been hearing your voice a lot lately. It makes sense that I poke my head into your journal and see song lyrics. :)

Hey, I knew a few of those! How did I miss your original post? =)

Your taste in music is divine! I am now going off to dig up my Geldoff/Rats Great Songs Of Indifference CD, as I have the overwhelming urge to listen to it now.

P.S. It's probably cliche & cornball, but my friends & I in Jr. High called ourselves The Deadbeat Club, and that was our theme. Thanks for making a good memory drift though my mind =)
