Not the spawn of Satan
May. 9th, 2008 10:42 amAn article (by way of
mdlbear) highlighting steampunk culture. As usual, the media are really late to the game. What I found incredibly amusing was the comparison of it to "the menacing spirit of goth" and the assurance that steampunks "are not the spawn of Satan".
Sure they are. But an ELECTRIC Satan.

What May Happen in the Next Hundred Years
Jun. 9th, 2007 08:54 pmBy way of the Paleo-Future blog.
"What May Happen in the Next Hundred Years", by John Elfreth Watkins, Jr., a piece in the Ladies' Home Journal of December, 1900. It's an interesting read just to see how many things he did get right, like wireless telephones, home delivery of meals, broadcast television, colour photography, and even MRI technology.

terriblebeast brought it to my attention some time ago, but I haven't had time to get around to propagating it, so it may be old news to some.
It goes without saying that I WANT this.
