More Swiftness
Aug. 20th, 2004 11:04 amFrom the New York Times:
Friendly Fire: The Birth of an Anti-Kerry Ad
Not quoted here because the article is worth reading in full.
The links between Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and the Bush campaign aside - that really shouldn't surprise anyone; that 527 groups have common financial or communal links to the politicians they support also shouldn't surprise anyone; and connection does not equate coordination - what's interesting is the section a bit further down on the Times's checking into Larry Thurlow's story surrounding his and Kerry's Bronze Star and a neat summary of the problems with SBVT's allegations.

And we're off
Aug. 20th, 2004 03:08 pmFirst day of classes - well, no classes for me, but I attended the first lecture for the History survey class (American History to 1865) that I'll be TA'ing for. Dr Hoffer, the professor lecturing, is also going to be my advisor for whatever Master's dissertation I wind up writing, so that's good that I get along with him. The TAs met with him after class to sort out which kids we'll be taking for our individual discussion groups and general comments about how we'll be teaching the course together this semester.
After that, I went down to the game shop on Lumpkin Street. I'd picked up Early American Chrononauts the day before, but I'd run out of card sleeves. Unfortunately, they were restocking and couldn't find any on hand, but it was not a wasted trip because right next door there is a hair salon, so I got an inch taken off the back and a little trimming around the edges done for 15 bucks. I have a glimpse of neck again.
Now to cook food, since I'm out of it, and to read articles for my environmental history class next Tuesday...
